Comparison: Cream Eyeshadows

I've recently become addicted to cream eyeshadows as they are a quick and easy product to use in the summer. I'm going to be comparing two brands, one high-end and one from a seller on Etsy.

The first are Buxom's Stay-There Eyeshadows (~$17 CDN each from Sephora). I bought them in a set of four for around $50 at Sephora.

Trying these out for the first time, you'll notice that it has a very different feel from other cream eyeshadows. This product is very soft and almost mousse-like. It applies very easily, but it is prone to creasing, so a primer is a must. It has very fine shimmer and has a sort of satin finish. My favourite colour is "Mutt" and I usually pair it with "Whippet". Here are some swatches:

Top to bottom: Mutt, Pekingese, Terrier, Whippet

When used with a primer, they last for a few hours, but last a lot longer if you set them with an eyeshadow.

Overall, I really like these eyeshadows because they apply well and are a quick fix when you're in a rush. However, they are not the best if you're looking for something long-wearing. If that's what you're looking for, then I recommend checking out Colorpots.

Colorpots can be purchased from Tiffany at Performance Colors on Etsy. I purchased two from her shop a few weeks ago, and she even included some samples!

Cabernet, Sweet Dreams, Morocco, Plum Fairies

These ColorPots are $5 each for the regular size (the ones I have in regular size are Cabernet and Sweet Dreams, pictured above) and contain about the same amount of product as the Buxom eyeshadows do. The sample sizes contain a good amount of product as well.

My favourite colour out of the four pictured above is Morocco. I use it as an eyeshadow base to make neutral colours stand out more. Here is a swatch of each colour:

Cabernet, Sweet Dreams, Morocco, Plum Fairies

The texture of these ColorPots is much different from the Buxom Eyeshadows. ColorPots come in solid form, but if you apply it with your finger, it melts slightly from your body heat and applies wonderfully.

I actually prefer ColorPots to the Buxom eyeshadows as they are longer-wearing. Using a minimal amount of primer under a ColorPot and setting it with an eyeshadow will give you a look that lasts for hours! At least that's how it worked out for me :)

They come in many more colours, so be sure to check out the Performance Colors Shop!
