NEW: Maybelline's Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow

These must have been released within the last few weeks because they just appeared at my local Shoppers Drug Mart yesterday! While not available at all Shoppers Drug Mart stores just yet, I imagine they will become more widely available in the coming weeks.

I've heard that these are in the process of being released in the US as well, but finally something has been released in Canada first! :)

The full name of these cream eyeshadows is Maybelline's Color Tattoo by Eyestudio 24hr Eyeshadow. They are on sale for $9.99 each at Shoppers Drug Mart right now (~$11 regular price).

Colours (left to right): Painted Purple, Bold Gold, Edgy Emerald, Bad to the Bronze

When I saw these in the store, I knew that they were meant to be a dupe for MAC Paint Pots and Makeup Forever's Aqua Creams. Whether they hold up or not has yet to be seen!

As for pigmentation, the purple and green ones need to be built up a bit in order to achieve opaque coverage, while the gold and bronze ones are a lot easier to work with and are quite pigmented.

My first impression of these are that they are great for the price, but if you're looking for cream eyeshadows that will stay put and not crease (without the help of an eyeshadow on top), then you're better off going with Makeup Forever's Aqua Creams (which are about $25 CDN). They are more than double the price, but I think they're worth it. EDIT: 12/28/11- After much testing of these Color Tattoos, I feel as if they are a bit better than higher end cream eyeshadows! They dry completely in a minute or less and will not move until you take them off.

These Color Tattoos are more of a cream colour base. Much like a jumbo pencil, they act as a base for your eyeshadow to stick to, and to make the colours brighter and more intense. EDIT: 12/28/11- You can also wear these alone without topping them off with a regular eyeshadow! If you want to use them under an eyeshadow, work quickly because the Color Tattoos dry.

I haven't tested these out yet and they've just been released, but I will post another, more in-depth review in the coming weeks.

What do you think of these Color Tattoos so far?

  1. I haven't seen this at my drugstore. I want to get them too!

  2. Hopefully you'll see them for sale soon! :)

  3. Beautiful colors, thank you for swatching them! I wish the purple and the green were more pigmented though :) x
