Total Intensity Liquid Eyeliners by Prestige Cosmetics + Mini Giveaway

I was recently sent these two Total Intensity Liquid Ink Eyeliners from Prestige Cosmetics.

These eyeliners have fine felt tip applicators and come in six different colours. These two wouldn't be my first choice but they gave me an idea of what the others are like. The green one in "Stalker" is matte and opaque and dries rather quickly. The purple one in "Around the World" is sheer and sparkly and takes a little longer to dry.

These eyeliners will not smudge easily. Once they're on, they are staying there until you take it off with makeup remover.

If the black and brown ones in this line are as good as these two, I'll definitely be on the lookout for them.

Ultraflesh - Black Magic: The Ultimate Jet Black Eyeliner Collection

During a recent trip to Winner's, I found the Ultraflesh Black Magic Eyeliner Set which I've been wanting to try out for a long time. I got it for $7.99 which is quite a discount considering it's regularly $39 at Sephora (now on sale for $20.00).

There are three levels/tiers. Each level contains a different type of eyeliner. The first level has a matte and shimmery pressed powder eyeshadow/liner. The matte one appears rich and dark while the shimmery one has gold sparkle.

In this photo, I've slid the cover back on top of the powder liners and revealed the second level. This level contains a black gel eyeliner and angled eyeliner brush.

This is the bottom/third level which contains a shimmery black eyeliner and a regular black eyeliner.

You can open all the levels at once if you like. In this photo, you can see the angled eyeliner brush.

From the above photo, it's quite clear that the pressed powder liners are not very pigmented at all. However, if used wet/over a gel eyeliner, it can make it darker and set it in place.

The gel eyeliner and the shimmer eyeliner pencil are very good quality. You can see from the above swatches that the gel eyeliner had already started to set before I blended it out. The shimmer eyeliner pencil does contain a lot of shimmer and blends well. The regular eyeliner is good, but blends almost to nothing. I think this may have been intentional so that the set contains an eyeliner that can be slightly blended out to give a soft smokey look.

I think this is a great set to have if you're always on-the-go. Even at Sephora's $20 price tag, I'd purchase this because it's small enough to carry around, but large enough not to get lost in your bag. I like that it has a variety of eyeliners, as well as a variety in pigmentation.

I wish the powder eyeliners were much more pigmented, though. However, they work well when topped over a gel/cream eyeliner.

Style Essentials' Jumbo Eyeliners

This is another review in my Jumbo Eye Pencils Review Series. 

Today I'll be reviewing a brand called Style Essentials which is produced by a company called Almar Sales. It is a brand which I have only seen for sale at Winner's stores in Canada.

They were around $6.99 for the set, and so each pencil works out to be a little over $1 each.

These all come in a set and each colour is not given a specific name.

Although not technically a Jumbo Eye Pencil (which is traditionally the name given for cream eyeshadows in pencil form), these eyeliners can still be used as such. They are a bit harder to work with as they are meant to be eyeliners (and are therefore hard in texture), but by lining your eyes with them and smudging the line out with a brush, you can get a get smokey lash line effect.

The pigmentation of these is pretty good, but I did have to build them up a bit in the swatches.

I feel like these could only work well as eyeliners if they were perfectly sharpened every time you used them. Otherwise, they would create too thick of a line. If the formulation were creamier, they would be great eyeshadow bases, and if the packaging were slimmer, they would make great eyeliners (though I imagine the hard texture of the product would cause some tugging of the eyelid).

Overall, I can't really recommend these because they do not function well in their intended purpose, and if used as an eyeshadow base, you'll need to really work with them.

E.L.F.'s Liquid Eyeliners

For those of you visiting this blog for the first time, you may be wondering: What's with all the E.L.F. Reviews? 

Well, this blog as fairly new so I decided that I would start reviewing makeup products that are affordable, good quality, and easily accessible from wherever you are. A brand that I've come to love is Eyes Lips Face and I thought it would be a great brand to review. I've done many reviews before, and they can all be found by scrolling down this page, and then clicking on "Older Posts" at the bottom.

Today I'll be reviewing their $1 Liquid Eyeliners from their Essentials Line.

I have six of E.L.F.'s Liquid Eyeliners, four pictured above, and two pictured below.

There are a few other colours in their collection and you can check them out here. 

My favourite colour is the black one because it is opaque and dries reasonably quickly. The other colours are all right, but I don't find myself using them as much as I thought. Keep this in mind if you're someone who only likes to use black eyeliner; you probably don't need the other colours. However, if you want to try using coloured eyeliners, these are best to start with because of the price. 

They stay on for a a long time, and can be darkened/enhanced if you put a bit of black eyeshadow on top of it (by using an angled eyeliner brush to trace the black eyeshadow over the line you made). This 'sets' the liner, sealing it in and making sure it won't budge until you take it off. The same technique is used with other cream products in order to make them last longer on your eyes/face.

Here are swatches of the colours that I have:

You can tell from the swatches that the first four colours are dark and opaque while the last two are more shimmery than pigmented. Because of this, I never use the Silver or Pearl ones. I think they would be great for detail work, however (like Halloween makeup, face painting, elaborate looks, etc). You can tell from the swatch that the liner doesn't create an opaque line, but is rather streaky.

The applicator is a felt tip one and is sturdy and won't bend. I tend to like these kind best because they are easier to work with.

I recommend these if you're looking to try out some other colours of liner, or if you want to try liquid eyeliner for the first time, but if you have some experience with liquid eyeliner, these might not be the best for you because the colours might not be as bright or intense as you want.

E.L.F.'s Cream Eyeliner

These Cream Eyeliners are from E.L.F.'s Studio Line and I purchased them for $3 each on E.L.F.'s website.

I purchased them in the following colours:

Colours (left to right): Coffee, Golden, Teal Tease, Gunmetal, Midnight

I really like the pigmentation and texture of Coffee and Midnight because they are matte and opaque, but the three in the middle (Golden, Teal Tease and Midnight) have shimmer and it makes them less opaque. This makes them a little difficult to work with when using them as a liner, but if you want something a little more subtle, they are great to use.

Teal Tease is a colour that I would more likely use as a base rather than a liner, because that is my preference. I mention it only because it is important to know that just because it is labelled as an eyeliner, that doesn't mean you can't use it for other purposes.

These dry and become slightly smudge-proof making them long-wearing and great to use in the summer.

As always, I am impressed with E.L.F.'s Studio Line and their affordability! I recommend these eyeliners if you're looking for something affordable and functional.

Review Series: E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face)

I think it's important to spread the word about something great, especially when it's affordable!

Tomorrow, I'll be starting a Review Series on E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) which is an online makeup company that sells affordable and function makeup products.

Their products range from $1 to $3 and go up for larger sets and gift sets. However, the majority of their products are $1-$3. They are an American company, but they ship to Canada as well for $8, no matter the size of your order. If you live in the U.S., they ship for $6.95 (any size order) and they also ship to other countries as well (check their website for details). This brand is available at Target in the U.S. and Zeller's/Target and Winners in Canada.

They sell just about every makeup product you can think of and they also have a different deal on every week! Last week they had 50% off their Studio Line. Their Studio Line is my favourite of all their lines, and each of the products sells for $3. However, during this specific sale, everything from the Studio Line is only $1.50! It's amazing. This sale happens every few months or so, but they also have Free Shipping if you spend over $25, and sometimes some of their larger palettes drop drastically in price for a short amount of time.

I definitely recommend checking them out, or you can read my reviews of products before you consider purchasing some for yourself. I'll be reviewing all of the E.L.F. products I've collected so far and then end with a haul of the items I am waiting for in the mail.

Physician's Formula Cream Eyeliner Trio

A few weeks ago, I purchased the Physician's Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Gel CreamLiner for green eyes which is part of the Shimmer Strips Collection.

I purchased it from Shopper's Drug Mart when they were having a 40% off Physician's Formula sale. It retails for about $10-15, depending on where you purchase it from (Walmart and Superstore also carry this brand).

This product contains three gel/cream liners that are meant to enhance green eyes. I have brown eyes, and I chose to purchase this trio because I liked the colours. This shows that you don't need to have a certain eye colour to purchase products that are meant for others. 

The three colours it has are a grassy-green, a deep purple, and a black with subtle green sparkle.

The consistency of the black colour is much a lot different than that of the other two colours; the black is a lot more creamy. When you apply these to your hand as a swatch, you'll notice that they dry rather quickly, and when you try to smudge them out after they dry, they barely budge. This is a great sign as it means that they won't fade as quickly as a pencil liner. 

My only complaint about this product is that, with the black especially, it does not create a completely solid and opaque black line the first time you put it on; it requires a bit of building. It is also really smooth, almost too smooth, and that is probably the reason why it needs to be built up through a second application. I think the black would be perfect if it applied the same way as the green colour. My least favourite colour is the purple, and not because of the actual colour itself, but because of how it applies. It seems to be a little more solid than the other two, and can be quite patchy if you apply it with your finger (as a swatch, colour base, etc). Though that is not its intended purpose, it is still something to consider.

Another thing I like is that the colours are stacked, and each colour comes apart in its own container. This is useful for travel, storage, or even sharing colours you may not like/use with your friends.

Overall, I give this product a B because although it is long-wearing, the consistency of the three colours is not the same, and the purple colour could be a little more pigmented.
